Maybe your thinking you should have initially selected a different Twitter username to be consistent with your business branding.
Not to worry, as long as the username you desire is still available you can change your Twitter username without losing followers. Just follow the steps below to seamlessly change your username.
Step 1. Log in to your Twitter, go to settings > account tab and change the username to your desired username. When you overtype the username with the new name, Twitter will check to see if the new name is available. Click Save once you find the new username and log out of Twitter.
Step 2. Create another Twitter account with your old username (you can use the same email address). This will help to seamlessly redirect any visitors that may stumble upon your old Twitter username in a search or via an outdated link.
Step 3. Go to settings > profile tab and set the web URL to twitter.com/newusername (newusername gets replaced with your new Twitter username). In the bio field you can indicate “This account has moved to @newusername”
Step 4. Create a new post as well stating “This account has moved to @newusername”
Step 5. Be sure to update all links which you have point to your Twitter page, in your website or blog.
